AquaBlinkR™ is an Internet of Things (IoT) sensor that is specifically tailored for maritime applications utilizing low earth orbit communication datalinks with the Iridium Constellation. The AquaBlinkR™ is a low power device capable of characterizing the water in the field by capturing data such as GPS, sampling depth, temperature, salinity, and pressure from on-board sensors. The device was designed with a power-saving HyperSleep™ mode to conserve battery power to maximize lifetime. Data sampling and transmission intervals are customizable. The default configuration for the AquaBlinkR™ is to transmit sensor data twice a day with a total battery lifetime of 8.5 months resulting in over 6100 total messages. This device is currently at TRL 5.
